As soon as video needs to be shared between rooms, direct HDMI connections become impractical. Long cable runs are unreliable, and placing duplicate sources in every room increases cost and complexity. A matrix centralises sources and allows them to be selected where needed.
The MHUB (4×1+1) 40 is commonly used in apartments, smaller homes, media rooms and compact commercial spaces like simple meeting rooms. Four source devices such as a satellite receiver, media streamer, games console, or signage player are kept in one location. One display output connects locally via HDMI, while the second display output uses HDBaseT over a single Cat6 cable up to 40m/131ft away. Each display/room can view a different source discreetly or mirror the same content.
Within a wider AV system, the MHUB acts as the switching point between sources and displays. The HDBaseT link provides reliable long-distance delivery using standard structured cabling, while control is handled centrally. This makes it suitable for straightforward two-zone systems where simplicity, space saving, and clean installation are priorities.
